Instead of taking the skills back from his original party after 10 days, so they could use their own skill and stop amounting interest, he simply kept quiet about the details. He even gave them more skills. They were clearly mistaken about how it actually works and there was no reason to keep borrowing skills if you can learn them that way after a short timespan ...So in short he's a fraud. A loanshark that tricks his own party.
